Learning outcomes
Many institutions strive to operate more sustainably, yet it is difficult to integrate a green approach into cultural programmes, community relations and everyday professional practice. The training helps participants see how their institutions can become actors that shape attitudes, involve communities and inspire action for sustainability. Participants are also invited to share their own good practices and develop ideas together.
By the end of the training, participants will…
- know the principles of sustainable museum operation, the areas of the Green Museum criteria system and international good practices of museums related to sustainability;
- understand the interconnections of sustainability and how a museum’s operation, professional activities, community role and awareness-raising impact relate to one another;
- apply the aspects of the Green Museum criteria system to assess their own institution, to identify sustainability challenges and to use community-based, creative and participatory methods;
- create a feasible sustainability initiative tailored to their own institutional context, with an action plan setting out objectives, target groups, required resources, implementation steps and expected impacts;
- collaborate with museum professionals from different countries and fields, analyse sustainability challenges, share good practices and develop solutions together.
